Welcome

Volaren School

A complete, free course in how investing is actually done: the theory, and the way professionals on Wall Street practice it. Everything here is open, needs no account, and is written to be read start to finish or dipped into a guide at a time.

What this is

Around forty guides, each teaching one thing properly: how a discounted cash flow model is built, how a credit analyst reads a bond, how a portfolio is assembled to survive more than one future. Every guide defines its terms as it goes, works real numbers rather than waving at them, and ends with its own glossary. Nothing here is a sales pitch for Volaren; it is the standard method, taught straight, and it stays true no matter what any product does.

Read a guide in ten minutes or an afternoon. Each opens with a short summary for the reader in a hurry, then goes as deep as the subject deserves.

How it is organized

Nine sections, in reading order. Open any of them in the sidebar on the left and pick a guide.

  1. Foundations3 guides

The statements, the filings, and the arithmetic of time and money. Everything later cites these.

  2. Valuing a company6 guides

In working order: understand the business, value it intrinsically, cross-check it against the market, then conclude.

  3. Asset classes6 guides

How professionals actually analyze each market: what drives it, what data matters, and what the experts watch.

  4. Quantitative methods4 guides

Risk, return, factors, optimization, and the honest limits of backtests.

  5. Macro1 guide

Rates, inflation, cycles, and how each flows through to asset prices.

  6. From idea to portfolio5 guides

Thesis, trade, sizing, hedging: turning a view into positions you can defend.

  7. Case studies9 guides

The frameworks applied to real assets and real history: companies of every shape, gold, bitcoin, a currency, a bond, and the S&P 500 itself.

  8. Industry outlooks7 guides

The live debates: how professionals frame today's big theses, sector by sector, with the bull and bear case stated fairly.

  9. Reference1 guide

The glossary every doc links into.

Foundations comes first because everything later leans on it: the three financial statements, the filings companies publish, and the arithmetic of time and money.
